Tip 228, Application Requirements for Rezones and Contract Rezones

Summary: Zone designations established by Seattle's adopted Land Use Map regulate uses, size, shape, and location of buildings on all property in Seattle. Any citizen may initiate a request for a rezone, which is a change to the Land Use Map. Rezone decisions are made by the Seattle City Council after reviewing a report and recommendation from the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) and the City's Hearing Examiner.
