Summary: You need a demolition permit to remove structures, including accessory structures with a roof area (including overhangs) of more than 120 square feet. (See the Seattle Building Code (SBC) Section 106 and the Seattle Residential Code (SRC) Section 105 for specific requirements.) Demolition generally means the removal of the entire structure, although in some cases the foundation may remain to stabilize a site.
