Appearance |
Constructed in 1929, this brick clad apartment building is located at the northwest corner of Third Avenue W and W Mercer Street. The 3-story building has a rectangular plan and stands on a poured concrete foundation. The building is clad in brick veneer with terra cotta ornamentation. The building has a flat roof with a parapet. The parapet steps up around a terra cotta cartouche centered on its main (east) elevation. A terra cotta beltcourse forms a cornice below the parapet, which also feature terra cotta coping. The front entrance is centered on the east façade and is framed by a flat arch opening trimmed out in terra cotta. Terra cotta key stones with brick soldier courses from the window headers. The windows have been replaced with wood-clad fiberglass windows.
The building retains good integrity, other than its window replacements, and is a typical apartment building from its era. |
