Significance
This house embodies the distinctive characteristics of a vernacular Queen Anne cottage. It is important because it enhances our knowledge of vernacular architecture and residential development in Seattle and because it contributes to the historic streetscape. This block is not included on the 1893 Sanborn. It does appear, well-developed, on the 1904-1905 map. C. Rick held title to this property in 1937.

Appearance
This is an unusually intact vernacular Queen Anne cottage. It is a traditional hipped roof form with a shallow gable projection to the front, which is decorated with wooden shingles. The asymmetrical entrance is covered by a pedimented stoop with turned supports, tiny scroll brackets and spoolwork. Both the porch pediment and the gable are decorated with spoolwork trusses. The focal window in the gable projection is three part with a leaded glass sash in the center panel.
