Significance
This building sits at the east edge of the earlier regrades of Denny Hill and was built in 1929, about the time that the last of the regrades, to the east of 5th Avenue, was completed. It was a typical two-story brick auto repair building with two garage doors and display windows. In 1949 it was remodeled for a tavern and in 1967 was completely remodeled for the Lyric Theater, with an auditorium and large display windows. The original brick has been covered with stucco and the windows have all been enlarged and replaced.
