This small building was owned and designed in 1925 (permit #248207) by Everett J. Beardsley, a prolific apartment developer who was particularly known for his Mediterranean style buildings, Other examples of his work in Seattle include the El Monterey (4204 11th Avenue NE), the El Cerrito (608 E. Lynn Street) and Hacienda Court apartments (1025 Summit Avenue E.). This is relatively simple example of the style, with blocky massing. Key Mediterranean features include the arched entry and side gate, the blind arches and twisted columns on the second story and the stucco cladding and red tile roof. The original building permit said that it was for a four-unit building but by 1937 it had six large units averaging 906 square feet. In 1949 a garage addition was built in the rear. It was a quality building with large apartments with oak floors, tile work in the kitchens and baths and refrigeration.

Appearance
This building is generally rectangular in plan, but the front section extends two feet past the rear section on each side, giving it a shallow T shape. The ornate front section has a side-gabled roof and the simple rear section has a flat roof. Cladding is white stucco, with a red clay tile roof. The entry bay, at the center of the west façade, projects about two feet and is capped with a front gable. The arched recessed entry is echoes in in arched gateway at the north side, entering the side yard. A pair of windows above the entry are separated by a twisted column and are set into blind arches. On each story a group of three similar windows is located on each side of the entry bay. The building corners are also marked with twisted columns. A compatible stucco and wrought iron wall has been added at the front property line.
