Significance

This commercial building was constructed in 1955 according to the  King County Assessor in the Uptown neighborhood. The building was converted to religious use in 2006 and is presently home to the Church of Scientology of Washington State. 

 
Appearance

Constructed in 1955, this reinforced concrete professional office building is located at the northwest corner of W Harrison Street and Third Avenue W. The building’s site slopes up to the north from the south. The building at 300 W Harrison Street is a 5-story building with a flat roof with parapet. The rectangular buildings stands on a poured concrete foundation. The building is clad in brick veneer. A prominent stair and elevator tower are present at the buildings northwest corner. The building’s elevations feature vertically oriented windows set in a curtain wall system with tinted spandrel panels. Vertical ribbons of brick separate each vertical column of windows and spandrels. The building’s main entrance is located at the east end of the south façade. The southeast corner of the building is wrapped in brick, halfway along the east elevation and a quarter of the way on the south elevation, with a darker brick forming an expressed pilaster at the southeast corner. 

The building appears to retain integrity.
