This is a good example of a “builder’s Tudor,” one of the most popular house styles in Seattle in the 1920s, and particularly common in this section of Queen Anne. These houses featured details typical of the Tudor style, like brick cladding and half-timbering, but on a more modest scale. They are particularly common in this section of Queen Anne. This house is notable for its detailing and the original garage door, designed to match the house. It was built, probably as a speculative venture, by a local building contractor, Charles A. Steele in 1929. The first owner is not known, but from 1938 until 1966 it was owned by John E. Rogers, who owned the Rogers Company, a food products firm located at 2200 1st Avenue South. Later owners included Gary Tarbox (1960s), David and Kathy Kellam (1970s) and Diane McCrink (1980s).

Appearance
This side gabled house has a tall gabled bay on the main facade. This bay contains the small arched entry, with an arched door with leaded glass; the chimney rises on the west side of the bay. Cladding is red brick, with a diamond pattern on the front gable. To the east of the entry is a pair of six-over-six double-hung windows. Below these is the garage, with an arched opening and an original door with multipaned windows; the door is painted to resemble the half-timbering in the small gabled dormer above it. A pair of French doors is west of the entry. Windows on other elevations are multipaned and one-over-one double-hung sash, mostly arranged in pairs. The front garden has a rockery and shrubs, making it somewhat difficult to see the house.
