Significance |
In the opinion of the survey, this property is located in a potential historic districe (National and/or local). |
|
This house appears on the 1904-1905 Sanborn Map in the tiny cluster of buildings on the west bank of the Duwamish River (before its course was altered). It appears to have had a tiny pier extending from the rear shed wing.
It is important architecturally as a good, intact example of a unique vernacular house type in South Park and it is historically interesting for the information it yields about South Park as a river town.

Appearance |
This house is one of two shotgun houses that remain intact in South Park. It is one story and has a gable roof. The full width porch is hipped and has spindlework between square replacement posts. There is a pair of one over one double hung wooden sash next to the asymmetrical entrance. Additions to the rear of the house (prior to 1935) alter the original plan. This house and its setting contribute to the historic streetscape. |
