Built By: Year Built: 1949

Significance

This property was constructed ca. 1949 according to the King County Assessor. While it currently functions as a restaurant, it was likely a warehouse-type building originally.

Appearance

Constructed ca. 1949, this concrete block structure is located at the southwest corner of W Thomas Street and Second Avenue W, on a site that slopes down to the west. The building at 203 W Thomas Street is commercial and features a flat roof with parapet along the west and east ends of the roof with a large, rainbow arch roof system in the middle. The one-story building stands on a poured concrete foundation and has rectangular plan with a small ell on the west elevation. Tucked within the ell is a raised concrete patio for restaurant’s outdoor seating. The building is clad in concrete block and features multi-lite metal sash windows. Metal flashing and signage have been added to the coping on the parapet. Metal doors have been added to flank the entrance on the main (east) facade and appear like shutters. Metal security grates enclose the entrance, which is recessed.

The building has moderate integrity, retaining its form and windows as changes were made to reuse the building as a restaurant.
