Historic Name: Common Name: Hardy Residence Style: Arts & Crafts - Craftsman Neighborhood: Wallingford Built By: Year Built: 1919   Significance This house was erected in 1919 for owner Daniel Zido who listed his address as 1516 N. 49th Street on the permit application. The identity of the builder is unclear; however, the house was designed by Edward L. Merritt. The building was remodeled in 1930 according to the Assessor’s record, although there is no record of this in the permit history. The garage was enlarged in 1937; Mr. Zido still owned the property at that time. Fire damage to the structure was repaired in 1944. A patio cover was built in 1964-65 and a roof deck added in 1998. In 1999, some exterior deck stairs were removed and a window and door replaced. The official address of the property is 4035 Burke Avenue N; however, the number on the building is 4037. The King County Assessor Property Characteristics Report for this structure indicates that the building is in single-family use. Nyberg and Steinbrueck identified this house as a building significant to the Wallingford community.   Appearance
