The Young House was constructed about 1890. In November 1889, George W. Young purchased four adjoining lots from West Seattle Land and Improvement Company and apparently had the house constructed the following year. Recently arrived New Yorkers, George and Anna (b. 1850) Young, with their children; son, Arthur (b. 1883) and two step daughters, Alice and Amy (b. 1869 and 1876) moved into the house as soon as it was completed. George W. Young, an officer of the Pioneer Printing firm, commuted to downtown Seattle in Pioneer Square to work. After his 1894 death, Anna and the two daughters remained in the house. To supplement their income they occasionally took in boarders. In 1900 Scottish miner George Nichol (b. 1850) and wife Elizabeth (b. 1847) rented a room. Anna Young resided in the house through World War II and daughter Amy lived in the house through the end of the 1940s giving the Youngs about a 55 year residence in the house.
The Historic Seattle 1975 survey listed the Alki neighborhood house as significant to the city.
The Young House appears to meet City of Seattle Landmark criteria due to the age of the structure (over 100 years old) and minimal alterations.

| The Queen Anne Style Young House has a bay window and third floor porch on the front, west elevation. Original turned porch posts and large brackets between second and third floors. Some windows replaced with aluminum windows. |
