This boarding house was originally oriented toward Valley Road (Dallas Road) on the banks of the Duwamish River (prior ot the river's alteration in 1914). It is important for the historic information it yields about South Park as a river town. Architecturally and funtionally it is the only building of its type in the community.
M. C. Montain held title to this property in 1917.

| Appearance |
| The façade of this two story apartment building is unadorned because it was originally the side of the building. It now has a small gable roof entrance porch orienting it to Tenth Avenue. A distinguishing feature of the building is the original front, which has an exterior wooden stair on the south end of the house leading to a second story gallery railed with spindlework. Beveled siding covers the building and the windows are one-over-one double hung wooden sash. The building is set close to the street facing the small park at Dallas and Southern Avenues. It and its setting contribute to the historic streetscape. |
