Significance

This building is representative of the neighborhood commercial vernacular buildings that sprang up along the streetcar lines. It's rather elegant architectural detail bespeaks its location on Renton Hill. It enhances our knowledge of neighborhood development in Seattle. It appears on the 1904-1905 Sanborn Map. By 1937 it was the East Union Market.
 
Appearance
This building is a commercial vernacular interpretation of the American Foursquare. It has a low hipped roof with wide, open eaves. The focal point is a second floor corner bay over a cutaway corner entrance supported by a massive square column. The storefront is currently covered.
