Historic Name: Smitty's Pancake House Common Name: Budget Car Rental

Built By: Year Built: 1953

Significance
This simple building was originally constructed as a restaurant, Smitty's Pancake House, in 1953. This area of the second Denny Regrade (1929-30), east of Fifth Avenue, was completed just as the Depression began and came to be occupied primarily by low-density uses such as auto dealerships. There were few restaurants or similar uses until the late 1950s-60s, when motels began to proliferate. This has now been significantly altered for an auto rental agency.
