In the opinion of the survey, this property appears to meet the criteria of the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Ordinance. In the opinion of the survey, this property is located in a potential historic districe (National and/or local). The form of this building, constructed as a four apartment wooden dwelling, is unusual for single or multi family housing of this period. This is, however, one of the last remaining wood apartment houses from the early settlement of Cascade. According to King County records, it was built in 1908-09. According to local oral history, it was brought, along with 224 ½ Minor Avenue N., to the Cascade Neighborhood as a result of the Denny Regrade. With this building and 224-226 Minor Avenue N, it forms a powerful ensemble and record of the types of housing that once existed in Cascade. It definitely contributes to the distinctive identity of the neighborhood. There appear to be fewer complete historical photographs of what the building may have looked like in its earlier years. Like its neighbor, it has been resided, but appears to have kept the location of original doors and windows. Residents who watched the new siding being attached say all the previous layers of siding are below the present layer. This building has been part of the Cascade Shelter Project since the 1970s.   Appearance Almost square in plan, 226 ½ Minor Avenue N. is two-story wooden house, attached to 224 ½ Minor Avenue N. by a wood story deck and railing at the second level. It has a parapet that is cut away to the south. Like its neighbor, 224 ½ Minor Avenue N, it is sided in plywood with attached thin vertical wood strips. The east facing façade has an exterior layer with large openings on first and second floors, behind which is another wall with windows and doors.
