Significance
This house is significant as representative of the work of W. Samuel Chinn, Seattle's first Chinese archtiect. It was designed by Chinn and he llived here from 1946 until his death. Additionally, it contributes to our knowledge of 20th century vernacular architecture and the residential development of Seattle. W. Samuel Chinn began his career as a draftsman with A. C. P. Willatzen about 1920. About 1930 he joined the firm of Thomas, Grainger and Thomas. Both firms were noted for Prairie and Wright influenced work. Chinn went to work with FHA in about 1940.
 
Appearance
This is a one story hipped roof mid-20th century house. It is distinguished by the wide overhanging eave and a set of three tall slender windows with small upper lights tucked under the eave. These Prairie-influenced features were characteristic treatments used by Chinn's firm, Thomas, Grainger and Thomas. This writer is unable to evaluate the modern building materials and techniques of this house. Building permit #370461. Eddie McAbee of F. R. McAbee, Inc. was contractor. (Chinn's previous residence, 305 24th Avenue is no longer standing).
