This modest building was built in 1948, while construction was recovering after World War II. The north edge of Belltown and the adjacent Lower Queen Anne neighborhood were underdeveloped compared to nearby denser areas, and when the post-war economy recovered sufficiently these areas proved to be fertile ground for construction of small commercial buildings. The first tenant was the Universal Index Tab Co., one of the numerous business supply firms that took advantage of Belltown's proximity to downtown customers. The building has been altered with new windows.
