Significance |
|
This building dates from as early as 1907, not later than 1909. Despite some changes to fenestration in the 1980s and the addition of the flight of brick steps, this remodel also rid the building of awkward changes shown in a photo from 1958 (for instance a picture window cut around the door opening). Its interior was divided into four apartments and one of those apartments was converted to a commercial space in the late 1980s. Despite these interior changes, the building retains its exterior appearance as a single family house. The building retains the form and scale, if not many of the window openings of the 1900s single family house. The building forms a pair with its neighbor, 413 Minor Ave. N. (see 012.1 entry) and like that house, is one of the last remnants, in appearance, of the Cascade neighborhood’s early single family housing stock.

Appearance |
This is a two story single family house type with attic. It has a gabled roof with very noticeable eave returns and two gabled side dormers (cross gable roof). It has horizontal siding, metal on the east front elevation and west elevation, which matches the wood clapboard siding on the visible side elevation to the south. A flight of low brick steps lead up to the main entry. |
