Significance
This was originally a small, typical 1920s commercial building with brick veneer cladding and large display windows with transoms. In 1937 it was the Burson Knitting Mills, selling knitware. In 1947 it was completely remodeled to be the home of the Cooks and Assistants Union, one of numerous labor unions that developed faciltiies in Belltown in the 1940s-50s. The land was relatively inexpensive, while being close to the downtown restaurants and hotels where their members worked. The interior was reconfigured into small offices, the windows were enlarged and replaced and the brick was covered with stucco. It was later remodeled again for use as a nightclub.
