This hosue is an excellent, intact example of a vernacular interpretation of the Queen Anne style. It is important because it enhances our knowledge of vernacular archtiecture and residential development in Seattle and because it contributes to the historic streetscape.
This house does not seem to appera on the 1893 Sanborn Map but it does appear in a well-developed block on the 1904-1905 Sanborn. James Bowne owned the property early in the 20th century.

| Appearance |
| This two story frame house is a vernacular form that is a hipped roof Foursquare, which has been adapted to the popular Queen Anne style. A false gable to the front is enriched with square and saw tooth shingles. A gable projection with one story cutaway bay addresses Marian Street to the north. A full width hipped roof porch is supported by turned posts and decorated with spindlework. A one story frame storefront was built to the rear of the house facing Marian Street around 1905. |
