Appearance

Constructed in 1965, this wood-frame commercial building is located on the southwest corner of First Avenue W and W Thomas Street on a site that slopes down from east to west. The two-story building with a daylight basement stands on a poured concrete foundation and has a rectangular-shaped plan. The building has a flat roof with eaves. The building is clad in Marblecrete and T1-11 siding. The building’s main entrance is located on its east façade and faces First Avenue W. The main (east) façade is visually divided in two. The south half is slightly recessed and features the main entrance, a flat panel wood door with a T1-11 panel above the door. A curtain wall system flanks the front door, with 4 bays of windows to the south and 1 bay to the north. The north half features panels of cladding with a smooth stucco finish.  The remaining elevations feature banks of anodized bronze aluminum windows with Marblecrete spandrel panels beneath the windows. Vertical pilasters form divisions between the windows and spandrels. At the basement level at the northwest corner, the pilasters extend down and create a recessed and covered porch area.

The building retains integrity, retaining its original materials and design.
