Significance
This bank building was built in 1963. Architects McClelland and Osterman designed the building for the Washington Federal Savings and Loan Association. Prior to the construction of the subject building, several small wood frame buildings were located on this lot. The Columbia Laundry, the Standard Oil Service Station, Bianca’s Rainier Auto Parts, Ed Welch’s Columbia Garage, Haugen’s Columbia Garage, Calpet Service Station, and Texaco Service Station occupied the previous buildings. The subject building is currently occupied by the Washington Federal Savings & Loan.
 
Appearance
This single story commercial building is of masonry construction and is supported by a concrete foundation. The building has a square plan and a flat roof with eaves. The building is clad in concrete block and stucco. Concrete pilasters separate expansive plate glass windows. Decorative molded concrete is featured on the eaves.
