Significance
These cottages provide an excellent example of early 20th century vernacular housing and in particular illustrate innovations in multifamily housing. They contribute to our knowledge of the architectural and residential development of Seattle and they contribute to the historic streetscape. Further evaluation of these cottages may yield information regarding the rich ethnic heritage of this historically Japanese/American and Italian/American neighborhood. C. A. Breitung, who signed as 'agent' on the building permit application for this bungalow court, (09/10/1918) was an architect who lived and worked in this neighborhood (St. Mary's Church and others). The owner was L. Linsler and the contractor was Carl Hedeen (permit # 171271-275).
