Significance
This small concrete building, dating at least to 1907, is reputed to have been lowered several feet following the regrading of 2nd Avenue. It may have originally been a livery stable, but was an automobile repair shop by the 1920s. In 1998 it was renovated by an architectural firm (now known as Suyama Peterson Deguchi) for their offices. This involved replacing all the front windows and removing the transoms and one of the two garage doors. The other opening has a new garage door, which is still used to access interior parking. A large roof monitor, visible in the rear, brings light into the offices at the rear. An art gallery and retail space occupy the storefronts, where some of the original timber garage structure is still visible. The basement has a garage, shop and kitchen.
