This is one of two identical intact folk Victorian homes (114 & 116 21st Avenue). They embody the distinctive characteristics of a traditional vernacular house form characterized by Victorian details. Both houses are important because they enhance our knowledge of vernacular architecture and residential development in Seattle.
Both houses appear on the 1904-1905 Sanborn Map but not on the 1893 Sanborn. They were apparently associated in usage because a rear platform joined the two houses on the 1904 Sanborn. Aphriam Friedman purchased both houses in December of 1923.

| Appearance |
| This house is a tradtional gable front box with sparse windows. It is a simple dwelling which pays little homage to its exuberant Victorian contemporaries. It has decorative shingles in the gable and a lightly scalloped bargeboard. The porch is inset into the corner of the house and is supported by a trio of slender classical columns resting on square bases. The windows have been replaced with aluminum sash. |
