Historic Name: Unknown Common Name: Style: Vernacular Neighborhood: Central Area Built By: Year Built: 1885   Significance In the opinion of the survey, this property is located in a potential historic districe (National and/or local). This house embodies the distinctive characteristics of folk Victorian house. It is important because it enhances our knowledge of vernacular architecture and residential development in Seattle and because it and its setting contribute to the historic streetscape. This block was not mapped on the 1893 Sanborn Map, however, lots were sold in this plat (Seattle Homestead 1st) as early as 1876. Judging from construction materials, style and ornament, this house is probably one of the oldest in the survey area. It belonged to Sarah McGough early in the 20th century.   Appearance This two story hipped roof box is softened by Victorian decorations including a full height projecting bay on the front, which adjoins a two story, inset porch. The porches have turned posts and spindlework. The cornice of the house is richly (ornamented with sawnwork and scroll brackets). There is a center brick chimney.
