Significance |
|
This is the second of two similar houses in this block; this one was built two years later, in 1929. They were most likely built by a contractor, perhaps using a pattern book design. The original owner was A.A. Bladine. The house was quite well fitted out when constructed,, with mahogany woodwork, two tile bathrooms, a tiled kitchen, hardwood floors, and a tile-faced fireplace.

Appearance |
This simple example of a builder’s Tudor has a steep side gable roof, with a prominent steep gabled dormer at the south end of the main façade. To the north is a large shed roof dormer. The entry has a small gabled portico within the large gable. Cladding is brick on the first story and on the front gable, with stucco in the side gable ends and on the dormer. The entry porch has a gabled portico with brick columns. Windows are six-over-one leaded sash, with a group of three on the main floor, two in the shed dormer, one in the front gable and two or three in each side gable end. There are two brick chimneys, one at the south end and one near the northwest corner. On the side near the entry is a small shed roof enclosure, perhaps originally a garden shed. On the other side is the entrance to the basement garage. |
