Historic Name: Langdon House Common Name: Langdon House Style: Vernacular Neighborhood: West Seattle Junction Built By: Year Built: 1905   Significance In the opinion of the survey, this property appears to meet the criteria of the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Ordinance. The Langdon House was constructed in 1905. William E. and Katherine Langdon arrived in Seattle at the beginning of the 20th century and initially lived just south of Denny Hill. William Langdon held jobs as a self employed miner, mining broker, and realtor. William and wife Katherine purchased the West Seattle property in 1902 but waited until the spring of 1905 to finance and construct the house. In 1907, after living in their West Seattle home for less then two years, the Langdons sold out to Richard Lillico and moved to downtown Seattle. Realtor and investor Lillico never lived there but rented the house for about 15 years. In the late 1920s John and Ivy Todd lived in the house. John Todd worked for Zellerbach Paper Company as a sales manager. During World War II, Clifford and Bernice Pride and Jerry and Dorothy Crollard resided in the house. Clifford worked as a meat-cutter for Bungalow Market, and his wife Bernice worked for a bakery equipment company. Jerry Crollard was a salesman for a billboard advertising company. Historic Seattle 1975 Survey for the Alki neighborhood listed the house as significant to the community. The Langdon House appears to meet City of Seattle Landmark criteria due to the age of the structure (over 100 years old) and minimal alterations.   Appearance The irregular shaped building has a triangular appearance. The structure has three 2-story bay windows and one 1-story bay windows. Small circular windows on second floor. Some of the posts of the wrap around porch are altered. The trim has either been removed or covered. Exposed rafters are covered.
