Appearance |
(1997) An intact however altered example of a hipped-roof vernacular house type. This small house type was commonly constructed throughout the American West during the later half of the 19th C and the early decades of the 20th C. This example exhibits distinctive design features and historic building fabric associated with popular architecture design modes during the late 19th C: a distinctive one-story cottage form accentuated by a hipped roof, a full width porch (supported by slender wooden columns) and standard double-hung and cottage window sash. The house is currently clad with asbestos shakes laid over cedar shingle (?) siding. The footprint of the principal portion of the house is 20’ x 30’ and includes a small one story rear wing and porch. Exterior alterations of note include changes to the chimney, window surrounds and entry door. Two houses very similar in form and design (including GT063) are situated nearby. |
