This truck farm complex is an important representative of the small faming and orchard activities that characterized early South Park. It is significant for its associations with the Italian community that farmed this valley and is particularly noteworthy because it was farmed by the Verdi family for over 60 years. The Verdi's have figured importantly in the history of the Seattle Public Market. The Verdi's acquired these parcels in 1922 and 1932 after having acquired 846 & 842 Cloverdale Street in 1917.   Appearance The Verdi Truck Farm included tract 17 and parts of tracts 12 & 18 of the Excelsior Acre Tracts. The main house, on Tract 18 at 9369 Eighth Avenue South is a simple one story frame bungalow with basic Craftsman details. It has a front-facing gable roof with a partial width asymmetrical entrance porch. The open eaves have exposed rafter ends and the porch has decorative knee braces.
