A bungalow with some craftsman detailing designed anf built by owner, L. A. Root (4500 Stone Way). The fact that Root filled all three roles suggests he may have been a developer of north end properties. Construction was completed in 1922. The wooden stair system so typical of bungalow entries was replaced with a concrete stair in 1959.

| Appearance |
| One story, wood clad frame residence built on a concrete foundation over a full basement. The three part window assembly at the front (west) elevation with its somewhat complex rectilinear muntin bar pattern in the upper sash, the "saddlebag" bay at the south elevation, the wide barge boards at the gable ends, the end wall chimney flanked by two small windows, and the modest size of the house are all indicative of this building's craftsman heritage. However the slightly complicated roof with its "T" shaped ridge over the basic rectangular plan and the clipped gables suggest an attempt to move away from the basic bungalow forms in the 1920s, when Wallingford was undergoing its second building boom. |
