This house was built in 1918 according to the King County Property Record Card (1937) and the King County Assessor Property Characteristics Report (accessed in 2005). An early photograph indicates that a detached garage once stood at the southwest corner of the property and was accessed by a driveway extending along the south elevation of the house. The terrace garage was built in 1939 according to the King County Property Record Card.
The Assessor’s photographs suggest that the cladding of the house was substantially replaced at some point between 1937 and 1965. However, the siding and exterior detailing has since been returned to something close to its 1937 configuration.
The Assessor’s records indicate that Ralph E. Page and his wife owned the house by 1938. Later owners included Thomas E. Paris and his wife, who acquired the property in 1957, and Russell O. Crandall, who purchased the house in 1969. The current owner acquired the house from Russell O. and Alice M. Crandall in 1992.
The current owner, Olivia Dresher, has attempted to return the structure to a form close to its original condition and has selected interior finishes, details and even appliances that might have been found in a Wallingford craftsman bungalow in the 1920s (some of her efforts are discussed and illustrated in an article entitled “These old Houses” written by Mark Albonizio and published in the North Seattle Herald-Outlook, March 3, 2004).
