Significance
(Built at the location of a succession of Colman Dock pier buildings,constructed between the 1900s and the 1930s. The most well-known of the early Colman Docks had a clock tower and a domed waiting room and was completed in 1908. It was destroyed in a fire in 1912. The dock previous to the present one dated from 1938 and was designed in the Art Deco Style. This one dates from 1966, but was extensively remodeled in the 1990s. More recently, around 2005, the interior at the second level of the building was also redone. Please see context statement for information on previous versions of the Colman Dock).
