Significance |
|
This gable front house was built in 1901, one of the earliest remaining houses in the vicinity. The earliest identified owner was H. D. Ladley, who purchased it in 1922 and owned it at least through the 1920s-30s. Although it is generally intact, especially considering its age, it has had some alterations. In 1951 it was covered with imitation brick. This has been removed and the original shingles and clapboard restored or replaced in kind; however, some of the details were lost, especially the leaded glass windows.

Appearance |
This house has a very tall front gable, with a shed dormer on each side. Cladding is clapboard, with wood shingles in the gable ends. The shingles flair out to form a pent roof across the bottom of the gable. The gable has a slightly projecting bay with two one-over-one windows with wide wood surrounds. The top of the gable has a one-over-one window with wide wood surrounds, with a small balcony with flat brackets and a wrought iron balustrade. The original window had leaded glass but was removed or covered over with the imitation brick. Other windows, which were leaded glass, were also replaced with one-over-one sash |
