This house embodies the distinctive characteristics of a Craftsman dwelling. It is important because it enhances our knowledge of vernacular architecture and residential development in Seattle and because it and its setting contribute to the historic streetscape. This house does not appear on the 1904-1905 Sanborn Map. Max Rath owned this proeprty in 1934.
 
Appearance
This outstanding Craftsman dwelling has the low horizontal lines, hipped roof with hipped dormers, massive square porch posts and broad eaves that show its kinship to the prairie style. Its eaves are open, however, and rafter ends exposed characteristic of the Craftsman style. A corner bay has decorative sunburst upper sashes, which match the dormer windows.
