Significance
This building embodies the distinctive characteristics of a Neoclassical Revival apartment building. It and its companion duplex (212 21st Avenue) are important for the information they offer regarding early 20th century multifamily housing and residential development in Seattle. They are also important for their contribution to the historic streetscape. This building does not appear on the 1904-1905 Sanborn.
 
Appearance
Bearing some material and design similarities to the large apartment building at 155 21st Avenue, this rectangular apartment building has simple Neoclassical styling. It has a heavy cornice with modillion-like false rafter ends. The entrance porch, which faces a courtyard to the south, is inset under a rectangular projection on the front of the building. It is supported by slender Neoclassical columns. The roof is either flat or very low hipped and according to tax records a built-up roof.
