Summary for 3024 1st AVE / Parcel ID 069500225 / Inv #

Historic Name: Artcraft Cleaners Common Name: Caffé Minnie's
Style: Commercial Neighborhood: Belltown
Built By: Year Built: 1926

Significance
This modest building was built in 1926 at this prominent intersection where the First Avenue streetcars crossed Denny Way. In 1937 it housed Artcraft Cleaners, although it was owned at that time by the Grand Lodge of the Ancient Order of United Workmen of Washington, which may have used it as a lodge facility at some time. The building was altered in 1968, but still retains its suspended metal canopy. The multilight transoms have been covered and the upper part of the original brick cornice was removed (perhaps due to earthquake damage) and clad with stucco. The doors and windows have been replaced and the bulkhead is clad with metal paneling.
