Historic Name: Chapman House Common Name: East Miller Condominium

Built By: Year Built: 1911

Significance
This six-unit apartment building was built in a residential area of North Capitol Hill in 1911, well before zoning laws limited such construction. It looks much like a large single-family home, with a hip roof and dormers and a wide front porch. It was porbably built originally as an apartment, since brick veneer ismuch more common for apartments than for Foursquare houses. In 1937 it had six apartments, including two in the attic. It may have originally been a fourplex. It is now a six-unit condominium.

Appearance
The building retains many of its mulitpaned windows, although some newer sash have been added. The porch has been altered, with a roof repalceing the orignal second-story porch with a balustrade above the entry.
