Historic Name: Geo. T. Maginnis Bottling Works Common Name: Kalimantan/Bladesmith's Retail Style: Commercial, Modern Neighborhood: Pioneer Square Built By: Year Built: 1900   Significance In the opinion of the survey, this property is located in a potential historic districe (National and/or local). The older western portion of this extensively altered wood frame structure housed a bottling factory. It later served as a restaurant and machinery equipment outlet. The more eastern portion postdates the 1916 insurance map and appears to have been used for storage and warehouse purposes. The building’s historical appearance has been lost. Although described in the City of Seattle’s Boundary Increase to the Pioneer Square Historic District, the building is not considered contributing.   Appearance This is a very extensively altered, wood frame manufacturing building. It now has new stucco finish over a stone base and new angled wood strips covering the south elevation. It is currently only one story. Its west façade has been altered many times. Its present appearance seems to have little in common with its historic appearance. The western 58 foot by 80 foot portion of the building, also the earliest portion of the building, has had an entire second level removed, in addition to the extensive storefront and cladding changes. The original First Avenue South elevation was covered with clapboard siding and included two-part narrow double-hung sash at the second floor. The eastern portion of the building included cross-braced sliding delivery doors and a gable roof. While it retains the gable roof, other elements of the east façade were changed markedly during a 2004 remodel.
