This house retains enough integrity to illustrate the distinctive characteristics of a vernacular interpretation of the Queen Anne style. It is important because it enhances our knowledge of vernacular architecture and residential development in Seattle and because it contributes to the historic streetscape.
This house does not seem to appear on the 1893 Sanborn Map but does appear in a well-developed block on the 1904-1905 Sanborn. Mary Bayes filed for ownership of this proerpty in 1938.

Appearance |
This one story frame cottage is a traditional hipped roof, with center chimney, vernacular form stylized by Queen Anne details. A cutaway bay projects to the front and has a gable roof. Basically, the house retains its form, its skin (clapboard siding) and its setting. Decorative spindlework porch trim and corner brackets are missing. |
