This apartment building is representative of the multifamily living units being built to meet the population boom of early 20th century Seattle. Additionally, this is a good, intact example of neoclassical apartment architecture and enhances our knowledge of residential development in Seattle.

Appearance |
This neoclassical apartment building is built into a slope to the west at the northwest corner of 21st and Spruce. The foundation/daylight basement level is made of patented stone while the rest of the building is dark clinker brick. Window heads and lintels are masonry. A fourth floor steps up across the western half of the building. The roof in front of it originally had hearty pergolas that balanced the roof line and presumably created a roof garden. The entrance is a double door opening with classical entablature and pilasters. |
