Significance
The roof of this structure appears to have been modified. The detailing suggests that the roof may have originally been hipped. The number on the building on the bulding is 4040; however, the Assessor locates the building at 4038 Woodland Park Avenue.

This property appears to be associated with Hans B. Grevstad - an important and active builder-developer in the Fremont neighborhood. Refer to 726 N 47th Street (1918) for biographical information and addresses of other known projects associated with Mr. Grevstad.
 
Appearance
The rectangular, two story wood frame building houses six apartments according to the King County Assessor Property Characteristics Report; however, there are indications that the building may contain as many as eight dwelling units. A small structure to the east appears to have become associated with the larger building.
