Significance
This house was built in 1921 by Charles Arensberg for owner W. Virgil Smith (4120 Burke Avenue N.). Arensberg developed or buit on a number of properties in Wallingford. The design was prepared by E. L. Merritt, who was associated for many years with the Craftsman Bungalow Company and who was responsible for many colonial revival structures of this type in the Wallingford neighborhood. The terrace garage was built in 1970 by Nordic Construction for the owners at that time, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Schueller (also spelled Schuller in some records).
