Significance
In the opinion of the survey, this property is located in a potential historic districe (National and/or local).
This building is one of a group of four commercial vernacular buildings, which as a group are important because they enhance our knowledge of residential development in Seattle and remind us that this was a late 19th and early 20th century commercial hub when Seattle's first streetcar line traversed Yesler Way and Jackson Street. The collection of buildings (2601, 2603, 2609 Jackson and 406 26th Avenue South) contributes to the historic streetscape at this corner and south on 26th Avenue South. The 1904-1905 Sanborn Map indicates this was a fraternal hole so it may also offer information about late 19th and early 20th century social organizations. By 1937 it housed the Jackson Street Cabinet Works and was owned by M. A. Weed.

Appearance
This rectangular frame building retains its form and decoarative parapet as well as original second floor window frames and entrance configuration. The window sashes have been replaced and storefront covered.
