This house, noted in the city’s 1979 historic resources survey, is a notable example of the Stick style, a variation of the Queen Anne style that is not often seen in Seattle. It was built in 1905, at a cost of $6500, by carpenters Waddington & Arvesen for Isaac Just, an insurance agent (permit #32298). Later owners included Carter Butts, an electrical supply salesman, and his wife Anne. The current owners bought the house in 1962. A detached garage was added, probably in the 1920s, and rebuilt after afire in 1977.
 
Appearance
This2-1/2 story house has a gable-front and wing form with a gabled roof in front and a hipped roof rear section. Cladding is wood shingles with stucco in the gable ends. The front porch extends across the front and around the west side. It has groups of two and three heavy square wood posts, connected with horizontal pieces, with curved pieces at the corners. There is a plain balustrade, with a similar one on the porch above. Most windows are one-over-one sash, but the entry has leaded glass windows. Similar stickwork is in the gable ends. The northeast corner is wrapped by a hexagonal bay. On the west elevation is a twos-try bay, with a single-story bay on the east. There is a recessed porch in the southwest corner.
