In the opinion of the survey, this property appears to meet the criteria of the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Ordinance.

Based on field work conducted in September 2014, this historic property retains its relationship to the streetscape, historic building form and a sufficient amount of exterior historic building fabric (design features, cladding and/or window sash/openings) to contribute to the distinct character of the Georgetown neighborhood.

This is an altered but relatively intact historic property that may possess some limited architectural and/or historic significance.

(1997) This property is associated with an era of residential and commercial building between 1916 and 1942 which continued in Georgetown despite an acceleration of the trends toward the industrialization of the area. Significant changes came with prohibition and the closure of the brewery in 1916, the completion of the Duwamish Waterway in 1917, and the arrival of new businesses, such as the Boeing Airplane Company in 1916. In spite of the increasingly industrial nature of the area which had been zoned as such in 1923, residents of Georgetown continued to build new homes and businesses and to plan for a future in the neighborhood. This commercial building was constructed for James Gordon, a real estate developer (James Gordon & Sons) based in Georgetown during this era. He resided with his family at GT099. The contractor, Robert Catto, also built a residence in Georgetown a few years earlier (see GT095). (Horton Investment Co.'s 1st Add, Tract 6, W68' N of S Albro Pl).

Appearance
Some repair and renovaton work undertaken. No substantial change to this property since it was identified in th 1997 HRI project.

(1997)  A partly intact example of 20th C. commercial architecture that has been altered and is somewhat deteriorated. Exhibits one-part commercial block facade composition with an upper floor level that includes large double-hung windows and a storefront level that is divided into two retail bays with a central recessed entry. The entry, display and mezzanine level window openings have been slightly altered. The facade is distinguished by an stepped parapet design. The facade building is clad with wire cut brick masonry veneer. The bricks vary in color from red to beige with the beige brick used to accentuate the base, corners, window surrounds and parapet. This color differentiation is barely visible due to soil or paint on the bricks. The minor elevations are clad with clapboard. The lower floor level was historically used for commercial purposes, and the upper floor level included rooms used for apartments purposes.
