Historic Name: Unknown Common Name: Style: Vernacular Neighborhood: Central Area Built By: Year Built: 1902   Significance In the opinion of the survey, this property is located in a potential historic districe (National and/or local). This house is one of 22 "modern residences" that comprised the 1901 Columbia Terrace development. This block of rather eccentric and eclectic vernacular houses, interpreted in various romantic motifs, was developed by C. T. Smith and A. S. Kerry (Kerry Lumber Company) and designed by Robertson and Blackwell Architects. It is an excellenct, relatively intact example of an early 20th century speculative housing development and as such enhances our knowledge of vernacular architecture and residential development in Seattle. This house is important as part of that unit and the historic streetscape it creates.   Appearance Columbia Terrace was designed to have larger houses anchoring the corners of the block. This one is a vernacular interpretation of the Queen Anne style with a side gable roof and various gable projects. The inset corner porch is balanced by a cutaway bay. Eaves are closed and have false rafter end decoration.
