Significance
In the opinion of the survey, this property is located in a potential historic districe (National and/or local).
This house is important for its architectural style as South Park's only Prairie style Foursquare. Located on a block that was characterized by small farms until the mid-20th Century, this property was described in early tax records as having fruit trees. Built for F. L. Stoks, this house was purchased by Fred E. Phillips in 1919. Phillips was with South Park Realty.
 
Appearance
This house is South Park's only Prairie style house. Its Foursquare form is distinquished by a very low hipped roof, very wide eaves and through-eave dormers that create heavy horizontal lines characteristic of the Prairie style. Porch posts are characteristically massive square posts. Replacement siding detracts from the integrity of the house. This house is set on a busy street of commercial and residential structures.
