This house embodies the distinctive characteristics of a Shingle style residence. It is a rare architectural style in this survey area and is a particularly interesting example. It is important because it enhances our knowledge of the style and residential development in Seattle. It an dits setting contribute to the historic streetscape. This house appears on the 1904-1905 Sanborn Map. It was acquired by C. E. Vroosman in May of 1925.
 
Appearance
This handsome house has a rectangular mass with a steeply pitched gable roof. Characteristic of the Shingle style, this house has multilevel eaves created by a triple gabled dormer and by second floor corner bays. The second floor and attic levels as well as the bays and dormer were originally clad in shingles but have been carefully resided with clapboard and vertical board. The gable end faces the street and is decorated with floriform and oval decorative windows. A gabled porch on the northern façade provides entrance. It is supported by ornate, short, fat columns. Classical pilasters and multipane over one windows further embellish the house.
